Painting & Printmaking Camp

For 9 - 12 year olds

This workshop is all about printmaking. Students will learn how to carve a design using linoleum, cutting tools, rollers, and ink. We will also spend a day playing with Gelli pads and experimenting with pattern making. Often kids don't know what to do with their prints, so once they are done making prints we will focus on how to incorporate the prints into new art.

These workshops provide students with tools they can use to understand the basics of what makes robotic devices work. Each workshop has a short session on the tools and software being used to create the project.. The participants learn how to write the code to MakeCode, a learning computer board (microcontroller) called a micro:bit, and some add-on devices.

Clay Handbuilding Pottery for Teens

For Teens 13+

Are you interested in Ceramics? This fun workshop will give you a chance to make at least two clay pieces: a crazy monster planter/mug and a box that can be used for artist's tools. Instructor Rachel Kirby was formerly the art teacher at PHS and has over 30 years of experience working with clay and guide students at all skill levels. 3 hour classes cover hand-building skills and construction. Students will come back at a later date and learn how to glaze pieces that need to be fired at high temps. Come get your hands into some clay!

Abstract art is all about color, shapes, textures, and freedom. This camp is all about the possibilities and the MESS. This camp may be more about the process then the product. It's the perfect place to let you child be loose and fancy free and you don't have to worry about the clean up. We will create using paint, pastels, paper, glue, and scissors. We hope your child finishes camp realizing that there are not rules when it comes to creating art.

Time Travelers Art Camp

At Time Traveler Art Camp art is timey wimey wibbly wobbly stuff!  Campers will be creating art from different eras of earth's history. The time machine starts with charcoal and conte crayon at the pre-historic Lascaux Caves, then travels to pre-Columbian Peru with etchings made in the spirit of the the famous Nazca Lines. From there we may time turn to Post-Impressionist Europe and pointillism, to the 1950's era of abstract art in America, and finally go back to the future with some out of this world art!
